Two years ago in fifth grade I was in a vex robotics club and we made three robots to take part in a competition at WCTC.
The object of the game was to take as many balls from the middle of the court and move them up a ramp and onto your side, we had two robots doing this. We also had a robot with an arm to grab the most important thing of the game, the Jack. The game was called High Jacked. At the start it sounded kind of boring but I decided to do it anyway, as it turns outmost of the people there I knew witch made it a lot more fun. It took about three weeks to finish all the planning and building but in the end it was worth it. One contest, one chance, 36 schools, it was the biggest moment of our robot lives. We played hard and our third game the worst thing ever happened, our robot broke down. We were rushing around like crazy. To find the right piece and in the end we had to cut a piece in half. The robot was working perfectly in about 5 minutes. In the end we came in Fourth place overall we were so happy. It is my favorite memory of my old school I have.
In this piece, I thought that you described the event very well. One thing I would add would an author's note. This gives the reader a little bit of a background of what they are going to read. Good job.
ReplyDeleteGood job, I could tell this was a memory you will always remember. But I would change the title.
ReplyDeleteThat sounded like a lot of work, and it's a shame that one of your robots broke down but you got in fourth place, that isn't that bad, if your robot hadn't broken down you probably would've got in a higher place, I also think that you change your title because it sounds like a story about fifth grade.
